Southern Cali Trip April 27-May 5th 2012

We love Newport Beach!!!
Martins
This trip has become a tradition that we all look forward to every couple years.  We stay near beautiful Crystal Cove at the Marriott (thanks to Linda and Kelly) and spend a fun week at the beach, sometimes disney, poolside and just hanging w/ the cousins.  We try and do a photo shoot every time we come, and this year Linda made all the kids matching skirts and got the boys and girls tops to match.  Turned out really cute!!!

We went to Sea World w/ Karri and Aram.  We loved the Shamu show and my girls really enjoyed playing around w/ the dolphins.
Abby and Baya could play in the sand for hours.  Bradford even got into it... and it got into him too!
Blakely and Emma were champs out riding the waves on the boogie boards.  The next generation of surf and sand ladies!

We rented a Suri for an hour at Newport and took the kids on lots of rides.  Bradford wouldn't get out of the front seat.  I'm a sucker for boardwalk entertainment!
Disneyland was a bit chilly... I had dressed the girls in matching outfits and they had to wear their sweatshirts all day not to freeze.  Abby got brave on this trip and spent the day doing the big stuff.  Baya even got pretty gutsy and found out she loved Splash Mountain!

So the jury is still out... I think I spent about 2 hours waiting in line for these pics... really? Baya was pretty happy though.  I don't think it will ever happen again, so these pics are priceless.

Bradford was a big fan of the jungle boat cruise. He was a little scared of the elephants!

Beaching it even though it's a little chilly--

Easter 2012

Easter is so fun!!! We went to Lou Lou's community easter egg hunt a few days before Easter w/ the Sheppard cousins and the kids got their first load of sugar--

Here the Thomas family (my older sister Lindsee's fam) look so cute in their yellows.
Every year my High School friends gather together with all their kids and do a big easter egg hunt. This year instead of the usual things in the eggs, we did tickets and they got to 'shop' at the store (that we all brought stuff for)... They thought this was pretty cool.  It's fun to keep these friendships through the years w/ this crew.
The girls look cute on Easter w/ their dad... Grandma Linda (Lou Lou) made these cute skirts for them to take w/ them California.  We talked her into letting them use them for Easter clothes too.  Thanks Lou Lou!

Aunt Bex helped Bradford maneuver the hundreds of eggs hidden all over Grandma Mary's yard.  And, she kept him from trying to open every egg and eat every candy in the process.  We have been doing this easter egg fiesta for a long time... it's always a blast.
Bradford looking pretty dapper in his Easter Suit!

Baya doing her hip pose!

Ellen brought William out for his first visit.  He was about 3 weeks in this picture.
Blakely, Abby and cousin Susannah enjoying their lot!

                                                              3 generations of trouble!

April 2012 Zions/St. George Trip

How many great grandparents do you know that hike in Zions with their great grandkids?  We are lucky!!! We took a trip over spring break to St. George and visited GG and Pampa Don.  They came along w/ us to Zions National Park for the day and even ventured on some hikes with us.  Bryan and Blakely took off for the big guns and did Angels Landing.  It was a great experience for both dad and daughter... While Grandma Ruth and I took the other kids up Emerald Pools.

Before getting to Zions, we stopped in Springdale, before Zions and visited our ancestors grave, Jane Black.  She was a legendary pioneer in Nauvoo who was a mid-wife and delivered hundreds of babies under very stressful circumstances. Later she and her family crossed the plains and settled outside of Zions.

Love that smile on Grandpa Don... This is on the river walk towards the narrows.  87 this year and pretty spry!

Bradford was one tired boy as we took the shuttle back to the car.  He'd hiked around, thrown over a hundred rocks, and gotten dirty enough to call it a day!
The next day we visited the Dixie area above St. George and hiked around on rocks.  Tim Smith, a work friend of Bry's was there and they also joined us in Zions.  His daughter Madeline is Blakely's age and the girls had fun together fooling around.

Blakely was able to squeeze through this tiny slot canyon... mom was too nervous and maybe big for the tight quarters.
Here are some of the pics taken of Blakely and Bryan hiking Angels Landing in Zions.  It was quite the victory for them... Blakely is laying down here contrasting the massive climb and dangerous place they are in! She is a maniac!

Here is Bradford doing his thing... opening drawers, climbing the counter.  This was the period that we took all our kitchen chairs and barstools out of the kitchen for awhile and just ate standing up... due to the constant hazard of climbing everywhere.

March 2012

March had some dry spells and snowy spells. It had been a pretty quiet winter and then we finally got some snow.  The kids had fun building snow forts in the driveway and Bradford and Baya tried them out.  If you look close you can see that the kids even dyed the snow w/ food coloring.

March was pretty dry for the most part and this is when we enjoyed some sun at Wheeler Farm.  We had the kids pose w/ some pretty cute shots!  Their good friends Karley and Sarah came along.

We took a trip to city creek w/ lou lou and karri.  marshall and carston fell into a fountain at temple square... it was funny!
